Program Area Participants are eligible for all the benefits of - and must meet all criteria for - NYAC basic membership. In addition, Program Area Participants must:
- Commit one youth and one adult from the organization [or oneself, for individuals] to participate in one or more program areas of the NYAC/EC.
- Agree to the rules and commitments of program area members, chaired by EC members.
Programs
The four program areas currently available for NYAC participation are:
Youth in Action Awards. Members will:
- Promote the awards program.
- Set criteria for award selection.
- Publicize award winners.
- Evaluate the Awards program and make recommendations to the NYAC for improvements.
National Youth Platform. Members will:
- Promote, distribute, and help create platform promotional materials.
- Play an active role in the creation of the platform.
- Guide the development of the platform process.
- Represent the platform and the issues therein at events and other gatherings if necessary and possible.
- Disseminate information regarding the platform and opportunities for involvement.
- Evaluate the platform program and make recommendations to the NYAC for improvements.
Youth Action Guide. Members will:
- Help to create the annual Youth Action Guide, based on the National Youth Platform.
- Promote the guide.
- Distribute the guide to membership and/or in the community, if and as possible.
- Evaluate the Youth Action Guide program and make recommendations to the NYAC for improvements.
National Youth Conventions. Members will:
- Shape the process leading up to, and through, the conventions.
- Recommend partner organizations for the co-creation of the conventions.
- Recruit participants in, and delegates to, the conventions.
- Recommend media/public relations partnerships and coordinate their role in the conventions.
- Facilitate the conventions' working groups.
- Promote the conventions to membership and/or in the community, if and as possible.
- Evaluate the conventions program and make recommendations to the NYAC for improvements.
Please note: the requirements for program areas above are only outlines. Actual requirements may be modified by the Executive Committee co-chairs as deemed necessary for the success of the programs.
