The
Global Youth Action Network is a not-for-profit organization
that acts as an incubator of global partnerships among youth organizations.
OUR
VISION: GYAN-France believes that civil society
is an integral part of building democracies throughout the world.
An active and restless civil society is necessary to achieve both
participatory government, as well as sustainable development. Thus
GYAN-France supports civil society in all its forms - but with a
vision to support and build one of the most idealistic and energetic
groups within society - youth.
GYAN-France endorses and sponsors programs with a view to increase
youth participation in government decision making as well as youth
participation in service. GYAN-France believes that government work
is public service and therefore young leaders who will take a role
in government tomorrow should be raised in a culture of service
today, for good government is government that serves its people.
Thus GYAN promotes projects seeking to build a youth voice and expression
in today's political questions, as well as increase service opportunities
for youth. The projects undertaken for these ends include coordination
of Global Youth Service Day, implementation of a Youth Participation
Initiative, and publications and projects to support expression
of the youth voice and to build volunteer opportunities for youth
- with a vision to help youth realize a full contribution to society.
OUR MISSION is to
facilitate youth participation and intergenerational partnership
in global decision-making; to support collaboration among diverse
youth organizations; and to provide tools, resources, and recognition
for positive youth action.
